my best friend's wedding

my best friend's wedding

this weekend was my best friend, hallie's, wedding! she has been planning this wedding for as long as i can remember and we were thrilled to finally get to celebrate hallie! she's been in more weddings than i could ever count and definitely knew what she wanted when it was her turn. so let me run through the quick highlights of the weekend…...

i rode down with alexis and katy. we left thursday night and drove halfway to stay with katy's friend (and birmingham neighborhood barre owner) rebecca. for some reason, i had pictured us crashing 3 deep in a basement on a futon. but rebecca had SUCH an awesome house complete with real beds and sheets….and a golden doodle that i tried to smuggle home named cody. we didn't even have to sleep 3 deep, she had two guest beds! we sat out on her porch and had a few drinks in some killer ceramic cups. i totally envied all her amazing art everywhere in the house, even down to the dishes. we laughed until we cried talking about sex, drugs, and rock and roll! rebecca was the best host and i'm already trying to think of another reason to go see cody…i mean rebecca ;) thanks for letting us stay rebecca!!

while we talked late night with rebecca, she told us that her first job was at bate's house of turkey and that we should stop on the way down. i had begged cal a couple weeks ago to stop there on the way to the beach, having no idea if it was good, and he picked bbq instead. apparently this place is a LEGEND. thanksgiving if my favorite meal and rebecca said GO…so we went! ….

…..HOLY SHIT YALL. the best turkey i have ever had in my life. i got the smoked turkey dinner and WILL be ordering one for thanksgiving. the interior decor leaves little to be desired, clad with every piece of turkey artwork to ever exist, photos of the bates free range turkey farm, and turkey figurines. its right outside of montgomery and when you go, tell me what you think!

we made it to the grand hotel at point clear, alabama only about 30 minutes late for our bridesmaid shower. we sat by the pool with the beautiful bride and got some killer mi golondrina dresses as a bridesmaid gift! we all played in the water slides and got the last little bit of sun before the wedding festivities started….and then…. 3 of our periods synced...

OUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES ARE WHITE PEOPLE.

just when you thought everything was going perfect…white dresses and periods. i started my period in high school at graduation all over my graduation dress. i cried so hard and avoided all photos…except this one:

but really. i didn't take a single one. i constantly fear anything like that ever happening again and considered buying adult diapers for the wedding. y'all think i'm kidding.

so i hit the rehearsal with a safe black dress. at the rehearsal we got bit by the biggest mosquitoes we've ever seen in our life… all we could compare them to were jurassic park mosquitoes… a quick google search and found this picture of alabama mosquitos compared to mosquitoes in the rest of the united states:

when you got bit, it was like someone had literally just stabbed you with a kitchen knife. i have never experienced anything like this in my life!!!!!! and pray i never will again.

after the rehearsal we went into fairhope and ate at an awesome mexican restaurant called la cocina. food was great. ice cold coronas with limes were even better. then we headed back to the welcome party at the hotel. we went to bed early and got our beauty sleep for the big day.

we woke up early on wedding day and went to warehouse bakery and donuts. i couldn't have been more obsessed with this place. grateful dead playing in the background of the old restored warehouse. they had donuts and then tons of healthy options. so it was basically my diet all at one place. we brought hallie some back and woke her ass up. IT WAS WEDDING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

wedding day was a breeze. everything went so smoothly we were just waiting for the catch. i grabbed a few pictures of the day and tried to stay out of the amazing leslee mitchell's way for the rest….

we absolutely danced the night away with papa sol…. complete with a gymnastics routine from katy and me :) i've never burned more calories in my life. i had probably 5 beers and wasn't even tipsy because it was metabolizing so fast. hahaha! after dancing and SWEATING the night away, we did what any already soaking with sweat bridesmaids would've done and jumped in the pool…sober…not joking.

after a quick dip, we got dressed and went to the hotel bar….where we met two other couples that had gotten married the same day! one of them even had the same last name (bailey)…and the bride's name was holly (our bride was hallie!)…super weird. we met holly bailey's new husband…"brian junior." brian junior had blood all over his knuckles and when i asked him what happened he said "i punched a guy in the band at the wedding. he's in the hospital now. i told him to quit playing all that slow shit like achey breaky heart.. this is my 3rd marriage and i am ready for a fucking party, is that asking too much??!!!!!!" we were crying laughing. crying.

after our bride left for the night, we did our own bouquet toss (hallie opted out of this at the wedding) in the hotel lobby directly to our single bridesmaid friend kathryn. she spiked that bouquet like a boss and flowers went everywhere. we jumped on the golf cart with brian bailey senior and they dropped us at our room!

we couldn't have possibly had more fun this weekend. shoutout to my amazing husband for keeping the 3 wild animals so that i could spend some time with my bff. the pictures of shit in the bathtub didn't make me want to rush home…but we did anyways. back to work over here! hope everyone has a happy monday :) and of course…. congrats to the beautiful hallie and dylan!

peace and love!
